How do I convert IFC to LandXML for machine control?
Two ways. Online, use Skala Konvert in the browser. The file is not uploaded. In SketchUp, Skala BIM imports IFC 4.3 and exports LandXML.
Online with Skala Konvert
Steps
- Sign in to the Skala portal and open Konvert.
- Choose the «IFC to LandXML» tab.
- Drop the IFC file.
- Pick elements in the list. Use search, select all or select none.
- Choose surfaces: top, bottom or all.
- Choose how to split: by element, name, layer, IFC type, or all in one surface.
- Check coordinate system, axis order (NEZ/ENZ), decimals (3–5) and offset.
- Download the LandXML file.
Formats
- In: IFC2x3, IFC4 and IFC4x3, up to 250 MB.
- Out: LandXML 1.2 (TIN surfaces).
Limitations
Result
A LandXML file with surfaces in the right coordinate system, taken from the georeferencing in the IFC file.
Pipes in your IFC? Skala Pipe creates centerlines for pipes and manholes, including bends. Skala BIM exports them as pipe networks in LandXML 1.2.
In SketchUp with Skala BIM
Steps
- Open SketchUp with Skala BIM.
- Import the IFC file with Skala IFC. The import is IFC 4.3, and Smart Explode is part of the import.
- Export LandXML with Skala LX. LX reads and writes LandXML, including ISO 15143-4.
Skala IFC imports and exports IFC 4.3 in SketchUp. Skala LX reads and writes LandXML, including ISO 15143-4, and can export pipe networks as LandXML 1.2.
