Skala Veg 0.1.1.25

Released
2026-07-09

The first versions of Skala Veg: road design in SketchUp, with curves, junctions, cross-sections and 3D kerbs and footways.

Horizontal geometry and junctions

  • The horizontal geometry is redesigned: tangent-fillet arcs in the corners instead of a detached semicircle.
  • A transition (ramp) for superelevation and a more robust finish of the drawing.
  • Junctions. A new centreline snaps to an existing road, the side road is trimmed to the main road's edge for a flush T-junction, and the cross-fall goes to zero in the junction instead of cutting the line. The main road keeps its crown while the side road is warped to the surface (Civil 3D slope), and the side road meets the main road's edge, not the crown.
  • The road surface starts only after the junction surface, so there is no spike in the centreline, and the junction surface is a clean flare (the mouth of the side road) instead of a fan or a hole.
  • The side road is trimmed to the near edge and the height plane is clamped, so there are no cliffs and the side road does not pass through the main road.

Cross-section and 3D

  • A composable cross-section preview. You add elements with «+ Add» and clickable «+» at the road edges. The preview is a continuous road section with thin layer lines as in Buildup, slope arrows with the slope in per cent and coloured surfaces, and kerb and footway are separated.
  • Kerb and footway in 3D. The kerb is built as a closed block and the footway as its own element in the road's colour, as separate components per side, with the carriageway as its own component. The kerb is cut every metre and starts from the start of the road.
  • Kerb and footway follow the junction radius into the main road, and the main road's kerb and footway are cut at the junction mouth. The junction cut finds the right road, even when ghost roads exist.
