Skala LX 1.1.9.314

Released
2026-10-23

LX can now import alignments, feature lines and pipe networks from LandXML, and the Xsite export destination gets project setup.

LandXML import

  • Feature Lines, Alignments and Pipe Networks in the import picker. Feature lines keep their 3D segments and gaps. Alignments read lines, circular arcs, clothoid spirals and PVI/parabolic elevation profiles. Networks import pipe axes and chamber outlines with dimensions, connections and source properties.
  • These are editable line objects, not solid pipe bodies, and unsupported geometry is reported in the import summary.

Export and Xsite

  • Project setup for Xsite. The export destination shows existing Xsite project files and lets you create a project, prefilled from the active Skala Start project. You can choose the coordinate and height system, and the setup is gathered on one compact page.
  • The Xsite actions in the destination window are grouped by project and export folder, and system filenames are readable, without a Skala prefix or hashes.
  • Pipe network export with Spine routes. LX now supports Spine's native routes in the pipe network export, preserves valid surface triangles and reports export precision cleanup.
  • Pending exports are merged with the current model scan, and several filename or export windows no longer open at once.

Skala LX 1.1.9.297

Released
2026-09-28

LX now exports pipe networks from Skala Spine and uses the model's coordinates by default.

Pipe networks

  • Export of Skala Spine's Pipe Networks. Choose the Pipe Networks category and the desired LandXML schema in the export dialog. Connected chambers come with the selected pipes, unselected pipes stay out, and bends and size changes keep connected segments and dimensions.
  • Native ISO pipe networks. Pipes, chambers, dimensions, structure elevations and invert references are kept, with IFC and custom properties as ISO15143-4 attributes, and the files are validated against the bundled schema before saving. Both Spine and LX must be up to date.
  • Skala Infra codebooks. ISO networks use the VA vocabulary in Skala Infra 1.0.0 when no taxonomy is given. The combined codebook has 194 codes, 111 optional attributes and 14 groups (VA, terrain, earthworks, trenches, road layers and survey), and both JSON palettes are saved beside the XML file for local export.
  • The export summary reports point groups, and isolated selected chambers are kept as separate 3D PlanFeatures with dimensions and attributes.

Coordinates, import and export

  • Export uses the model's actual coordinates by default. With an updated Skala Origo, the saved working origin follows automatically. «Export to another origin» applies to one export.
  • The Temporary and Permanent buttons for creating an origin are removed from the LandXML import. Choose an existing origin, or let Skala Origo handle the working origin.
  • LandXML import uses the file's coordinates without an origin by default, and hidden triangles are skipped.
  • The import and export dialogs share the same design and settings.
  • Export preserves elevations, and the LandXML geometry is validated.
  • Surface conversion and window frames are fixed, and two filename or destination windows no longer open at the same time.
  • Export requires a cloud connection before the destination browser opens.

The export list

  • Large models. The export list loads cooperatively and shows objects in pages, so the selection is kept across thousands of objects.
  • Loose alignments in the export picker. Loose edges tagged SS_Alignment are included without grouping them first. Connected routes keep their XYZ geometry, and routes with vertical segments are preserved as 3D Feature lines in the same XML.

Skala LX 1.1.9.273

Released
2026-09-07

LandXML export to ISO 15143-4, with taxonomy, colours and validation.

ISO 15143-4

  • Selectable ISO 15143-4 LandXML export. With the option to swap axes, more readable formatting also in LandXML 1.2, and separate coding features in LandXML 1.2.
  • ISO taxonomy and vertical profiles. Part 4 semantics have been added, and the export can include optional Infrakit colours using the full Infrakit palette.
  • Validation of ISO exports and automated conformance tests.
  • Black is exported as a fixed ACI colour, and LandXML colours are imported from features.

Export dialog

  • The export controls are tidied up and translated into all languages, and the progress shown is real progress.
  • Import and export progress is simplified, and objects are revealed only when the import is complete.
  • !Arrow lines in the export dialog. They are marked, exported to their own pipelines!Arrow.xml and shown under Feature lines in the summary. Selecting only !Arrow does not export the whole model.
  • The «Ungrouped surfaces» section shows only when grouped surfaces exist, and grouped LandXML exports are improved, with better compatibility with Makin.
  • The export includes IFC Labels on alignments and feature lines.
  • «already initialized constant» noise from shared constants has been removed.

Faster and safer LandXML import, an Xsite name check with Claude and materials for Infrakit.

LandXML import

  • Faster and more correct LandXML import. The mesh is built at the origin, the file's own axis order is read, and a surface is accepted only when an actual Face exists.
  • The progress display shows the whole import, not just reading the file, and «Import done» is a single summary without extra popups.
  • «Import with chosen origin» off now really means without an origin, and an origin that is switched off is not used for anything. NASJONALT import leaves the model axes at the zero point.
  • JFCL import and the coordinate status box are removed from the import dialog.

Xsite and Infrakit

  • Name check before Xsite export. LX warns about object names that are too long (max 20 characters) and lets you fix them before the export. A «Fix with Claude» button in the «Names too long» dialog lets Claude rename the objects via Skala BIM, in the language of Manage.
  • Infrakit materials for Massetransport. Materials (mass type) can optionally be included, only for an Infrakit destination and never as a local fallback. The count is confirmed and shown in the «Export done» dialog.
  • The export destination window is more compact with logos and breathing room, and cloud export shows errors instead of a silent local fallback.
  • IFC export broke when the filename prompt was missing, and re-export now shows honest material status.
  • LX registers in Skala Manage's shared Skala Studios menu, and «As built» works in all Skala hosts.

Skala LX 1.1.9.211

Released
2026-07-18

Skala LX now exports to Makin, Infrakit, Xsite and Trimble Connect, and imports from Xsite and Trimble Connect.

Cloud services

  • Export to Makin. Upload LandXML surfaces directly.
  • Infrakit export from start to finish. Browse project folders, upload, choose assignments and model, and see the result in the export summary. IFC/BIM properties and grouping are standardised, and only Skala-made property groups are included.
  • Xsite export and import. Upload to Xsite with an automatic colour scheme, and import «Project hotel» and «As built» (as-built points).
  • Trimble Connect. Export to Trimble Connect, and import XML files from it with a folder tree.
  • Import CgPoints (survey points) from LandXML, not just surfaces, and list each point group on its own.
  • LX remembers the last used project per cloud service and your export options, and secondary export options are behind a gear icon.
  • The import and export dialogs have light and dark themes and follow the language in Manage.
  • Functions can be switched off per tool in the export dialog.

The first versions of Skala LX: export to cloud services from SketchUp.

Export

  • Export destination with several services. The first prototype of the export destination window, with an Infrakit project list that caches the list and avoids needless refetches.
  • Skala LX under Skala BIM. The menu and logo follow the Skala BIM setup, and the right-click menu has a combined «Skala Studios» header.
  • LX registration no longer waits for Skala Manage to load.
