Edit the model's active origin. When the model has an active coordinate reference, «This model» shows at the top of the project list. Choose Edit, adjust X/Y/Z in metres and press Save changes.
Geometry, the stored reference, the north arrow and coordinate marks update in one Undo operation, the global coordinates are kept, and camera and scenes follow the move.
Further imports and the integrated Skala exports use the edited reference.
Empty and invalid coordinates are rejected, and saving is rejected if the reference or document has changed in the meantime.
Coordinate system and height system are kept; the function does not reproject.
Automatic working origin. The first origin is kept for later imports, stored in the SKP file and kept even if all discipline geometry is deleted. Pause stops the automation; a new, separate file gets its own reference.
Models far from the zero point. If the model is at least 1,000 m from SketchUp's zero point, the geometry is moved close to it and the offset is stored in the SKP file. It is a pure shift, with no reprojection.
New models start without drawing axes and without the default person. The north arrow's origin circle is centred on 0, 0, 0, and a vertical arrow points down at the point.
Export uses the model's actual coordinates by default, and an existing reference also applies to import and export through Skala Move, LX and IFC.
First IFC import. An unambiguous Origo/BasePoint/zero point at Z = 0 is used as the working origin. Without a marker, a point to the south-west of the geometry is chosen. Local IFC files keep their original XYZ coordinates.
Coordinate system from the import file. The SOSI header's KOORDSYS and VERT-DATUM are read, KML is checked against the model's system, and LandXML import with Skala LX reads the coordinate system, EPSG and height system from the header. DWG/DXF read a PRJ file with the same name.
The system is shown in the panel, in the 3D text at the north arrow and in the Origo window, for example «EUREF89 / NTM 25 · EPSG:5125» with height system NN2000.
New Origo dialogs. Rounded windows without the Windows title bar, a fixed bottom with actions, and a light or dark view controlled from Skala Manage.
The project overview is a compact window, and the editor shows global and local origin side by side with X, Y and Z under each other. «National» is now called «Global».
The working origin section with buttons, «Get from», Xsite, Infrakit and «Pick point» are removed from the dialog.
Skala Origo 1.8.28
Released
2026-07-19
Skala Origo gathers coordinate projects and origin in SketchUp, with a place in Skala BIM.
Functions can be switched off per tool. Origo shows a clear message and a banner in the dialog when a function is deactivated.
A place in Skala BIM. Origo sits under Skala Studios › Skala BIM with a new logo and an icon in the shared toolbar, and in Skala Manage's shared Skala Studios menu.
The menu entry and toolbar show correctly in SketchUp 2026.
